I have been negligent about writing lately. It's too hot.

I am enjoying my garden in a very different way his year. I wander around tying this and pulling that, moving this and planning for the next season/ event/ planting.

We pruned out some low-lying branches in the Norway maples. And now we get some dappled sunlight on the bed in the mornings.

Monarchs have been visiting the milkweeds, but no sign of eggs or cats.

Our special poppies that were eggplants when I planted the seeds, are beautiful. No idea how this happened I may never know. I checked the seed packet for the eggplants- not poppies. And since I never plant poppies ahead because they do not transplant well, I do not know how they grew in pots and are now in the garden, growing at a perfect 12" apart!

I have volunteer dill, tomatoes and potatoes in the driveway bed.

Currently blooming: Prunella vulgaris, male marijuana, dill, catnip, Mullein, and Mullein Nigra, Joe Pye, Asiatic lillies, marjoram, Ligularia The Rocket, Mondo Grass, Monarda- red and purple, Tithonia, tiny sedum, Japanese Anemone, Potentilla, Marjoram, Red Clover, Plantain, Meadowsweet, (Rose Spirea), Queen Anne's Lace, Chamomile, Mullein Nigrum, Hostas, Miniature Hosta, Russian Hollyhocks, Trumpet Vines, Staghorn Sumach, Cardinal Flower, Red Lavender,

Blackcaps are ripening and goldens and red rasperries nearly done. The Blackberries and fall raspberries are starting. Aronia berries are ripening.

Peas are nearly done, but I can't pull them because they do insist on flowering again!

We had a good pea year. But not sweet peas. I will plant them somewhere else next year.

Picked the first Patty Pan Squash. No Zucchini set yet- good blooming though.

Borlotti Beans starting to produce.

Harvesting Yellow Carrots and Purple top Turnips. Pulled Garlic

Planted radishes in the crack on the side of the Hugel bed.

Was given some cement curved planters- they are now planted with Canna Lillies at the front.
