By March 7 I noticed the Hellebores are budding through the snow. All 5 plants are starting to flower.
Several Crocus, Winter Aconites, poking up.
March 10 Rhubarb patch sprouting.
March 10- started to tap the Red Maple. Ended on March 25 with a warm spell.
Did 3 boils = 1.5 L of syrup. The first 2 are quite light, the 3rd quite dark.
Started to experiment with a warmer in the greenhouse. Tea light on a rock under a clay pot.
It will heat the greenhouse by about 1C over the 3 hours it burns.
Birds are starting to reappear- Eastern Screech Owls are active. Tundra Swans flying overhead, Juncos largely gone.
March 18, pruned a large leader on the Pear tree, seriously pruned back the Cherry and King Apple tree. Plum, Crabapple and Small Apple tree pruned.
